Corn snake-enthralling pets
Corn snakes make excellent and popular pets, as they have beautiful patterns and colors which are produced by selective breeding. This particular snake “corn” can almost grow 3 feet to 5 feet and at times can grow up to 6 feet long in length. Corn snakes are not very expensive, but yes their other expenses are a lot. As corn snakes are not venomous there is no need for elaborate cages. They are known to be docile and are very easy when it comes to caring about them. However, you need to be careful about corn snakes since they are masters in escaping.
The things you have to see before choosing the corn snake make sure to choose bread known as captive. Corn snake eyes must be clear, and must not have any scrapes or cuts on its body. Corn snakes usually don’t grow much big size wise; hence handling them is quite easy.
After buying one corn snake you have to create housing for them which is a tank which can capable of having 75 liters of water. The water used should be of very clean and neat, it should not contain any bacteria, fungi or any other micro organisms which harm the corn snake. The snake may defecate in the water and therefore needs to be cleaned immediately. Ensure that tank lid is well fitted which can me closed well and has a few holes for good ventilation. Corn snakes are known to be good escapers and always try to push open lid with help of their noses if they found a weak spot to escape to freedom.
In your snake housing you should create one hiding spot this makes the snake feel protected and secured and give some personal space to the reptile. You will also need to keep the temperature of the cage 70 F to 85º F at daytime and at night 65 F to 72º F. You can also use heat taps or heat pads underneath the enclosure. Heat pad must be kept in half area of the tank this will maintain cool and warm gradient in enclosure. You could also provide heat gradient from an overhead bright light which will also give out basking spot. Corn snake don’t require specific or special lightings. So you can place the corn snake housing anywhere in your home.
